Where nature and history shape the landscape This is a site that will transport you to the time of the Antioquian colonization, where its beautiful sculptures will tell you the story of the brave muleteers who founded our city on muleback. Located in the beautiful area of Chipre, the Monumento a los Colonizadores offers a wonderful view of the mountains that surround Manizales and that are a testament to the drive and strength of the colonizing families.

The sculptures found at the site are the work of the master Luis Guillermo Vallejo Vargas, who wished to reflect, through "La Agonía" and "El Éxtasis," the feats of the founders who arrived from towns in southern Antioquia such as Abejorral, Sonsón, Rionegro, La Ceja and Marinilla, laden with dreams and hopes. Having found this beautiful land, they settled on the ridge of the central mountain range, surrounded by a lush landscape full of charm, which would become our beloved Manizales. At the Monumento a los Colonizadores, visitors will appreciate the beauty of our City, the color of our landscape and the imposing 25-ton work, accompanied by the historical narration of the group of specialized guides who will transport them to that era.
