In Caldas, every sunrise brings a natural concert that enchants locals and visitors alike. This department, recognized as one of the best birdwatching destinations in Colombia, will once again host the Congreso de Aviturismo (Birdwatching Tourism Congress), a gathering that celebrates the diversity, science and beauty found in the forests of the Magdalena Caldense.
From November 14 to 16, 2025, Manizales will open its doors to birdwatchers, photographers, researchers and nature lovers from around the world. Over three days, participants will be able to explore unique observation routes, specialized workshops and spaces where rural communities share their commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism.
Caldas is home to more than 800 bird species, including hummingbirds, toucans, tanagers and Andean owls that live in ecosystems ranging from the mists of the páramo to the warm valleys of the Magdalena River. This congress not only boosts nature tourism, but also the recognition of the region as a living sanctuary for those seeking authentic experiences.
