Every November, memory calls to us. It reminds us that nature, as generous as it is imposing, forever marked the history of Armero, Chinchiná and Villamaría during the 1985 tragedy. This year, that memory is honored in a special way: with a night hike inside Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados, a setting that holds silence, purity and strength in every meter of its landscape.
On Monday, November 17, hikers will cover 2.3 kilometers, climbing from 4,130 to 4,300 meters above sea level on a route between Brisas and Arenales. It will be a space for reflection, connection and tribute, guided by the light of flashlights and the echo of the páramo.
The activity is completely free and has 50 spots, which will be assigned in order of registration. To participate, you must form a group of five people and register beforehand using the official form.
Since entry to the Park is regulated by the environmental pico y placa (license plate restriction), only vehicles with license plates ending in 4, 5 or 6 may enter, so it is essential to go in a private car.
The experience will begin at the UTON meeting point (Calle 70 #27-70, Palermo – Manizales) at 4:30 p.m., from where the group will depart for the mountain.
This hike is more than a route: it is a moment to honor lives, learn from the past and reaffirm the need to protect the ecosystems that sustain us. An invitation to walk with respect, memory and hope.
