In eastern Caldas, the landscape is measured in water. Here you'll find the Amaní reservoir, which joins Samaná, Norcasia and Victoria, and a little farther downstream runs the La Miel River, which gives life to the rural districts of La Dorada. It is one of the most biodiverse regions of the department, and it can be explored by boat or by bicycle.
Amaní, the water that connects three municipalities
In Norcasia, Amaní is the main attraction. Boat tours of the reservoir depart from the municipality, and Norcasia also offers water sports, bike tourism and waterfalls such as El Jagual and the Salto de las Pavas.
Samaná is a leading ecotourism destination in the east, with natural attractions and local operators working toward sustainable tourism. Victoria, for its part, is a land of birds: in the AICA Bellavista, endemic and migratory species can be observed, among forests and trails near the Magdalena River.

La Miel, a river experienced with its people
In the lower basin of the La Miel River, the communities of La Habana, La Atarraya and Buenavista, in La Dorada, have made the river their engine of development. Tourism there is organized by the families themselves: there are inns, eco-cabins, traditional food and local operators who take visitors along the river.
The experiences range from the relaxed to the intense. There is the riverside tour through the rural district of La Habana, bodyrafting on the river, and mountain bike routes that reach La Miel for the more adventurous.
And in La Dorada itself, on the banks of the Magdalena, you'll find the Charca de Guarinocito, for birdwatching and boating, and a cuisine that features buffalo as its main ingredient.
